Gynaecologist - Dr Christina Tieu

Christina Tieu is a consultant gynaecologist who consults at DW Doctors on variable Thursday afternoons and Saturday

In addition to Christina’s private work at DW Doctors, she also consults at Ormiston, Marina and Crawford specialist Centre. Christina performs all surgical procedures at Ormiston Hospital.

She is also a consultant at Middlemore Hospital and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the Auckland School of Medicine.

Christina is multilingual and speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Teochew and Vietnamese.

Her areas of interest are:

  • General gynaecology: heavy menstrual bleeding, period pain, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts
  • Operative hysteroscopy: submucosal fibroids, endometrial abnormalities (such as polyps)
  • Advanced laparoscopy: endometriosis treatment, laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic removal of fibroids
  • Colposcopy: abnormal smears and treatment (such as Lletz or cone biopsy to remove abnormal cells)
  • Early gynaecological cancers: ovary, uterus, cervix

Dermatologist- Dr Ken Ip
MBChB, PGDipClinDerm, FRACP, FNZDS, IFAAD

Dr Ken Ip is a Medical Dermatologist and Skin Cancer surgeon. He consults weekly at DW Doctors on Wednesdays.

GP referrals, and self-referrals for skin checks are welcomed.

He is a Southern Cross affiliated provider for consultations and surgeries. All medical insurers are also accepted.

Dr Ken Ip graduated with distinction from the University of Auckland and undertook his Dermatology training through Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has recently returned from a 2-year fellowship in Melbourne subspecialising in diagnosis and management of melanomas.

He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Auckland, and a consultant at Auckland City Hospital where he manages a broad range medical dermatology conditions, and performs complex skin cancer surgery.

Ken is fluent in Cantonese. Mandarin interpreters are also available at DW Doctors.

His areas of expertise include:

  • Mole checks
  • Skin cancer surveillance in high risk patients
  • Surgical and non-surgical management of skin cancers
  • Medical Dermatology: Acne, rosacea, urticaria, hyperhidrosis
  • Immunomodulatory and biologic treatments: Eczema, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), vitiligo and alopecia areata
